Operation Chain Reaction

Operation Chain Reaction, the cornerstone of the GSCIU, began in 2011 when HSI, the Department of Defense (DoD), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) initiated an effort to interdict the unlawful importation of counterfeit microelectronic components which were posing a threat to U.S. defense and cyber security systems. Today, OCR oversees the implementation of the shared vision of HSI, DoD, and Congress by focusing on all components destined to the DoD weapons-track supply chain.

Operation Genuine Valor

Operation Genuine Valor was established in 2023 with the creation of the GSCIU, and in a strong alliance with the IPR Center’s Intellectual Property Unit (IPU), is solely focused on ensuring that counterfeit pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and surgical supplies do not infiltrate the supply chain of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VA is the largest integrated healthcare system in the United States and serves over 9 million veterans.

Operation Gung Ho

Operation Gung Ho, working closely with OCR, was established by HSI and our partner agencies as a concerted effort to interdict counterfeit small arms, body armor, and ammunition before entering the U.S.-government supply chain. Gung Ho brings together all members of this vital sector; manufacturers, vendors, and buyers such as the U.S. military and all levels of law enforcement agencies.

Operation Rollback

Operation Rollback utilizes data derived from partnerships with e-commerce platforms in order to identify third-party vendors who are operating as bad actors with respect to counterfeits and other intellectual property right violations. Absent appropriate safeguards, these third-party vendors can inadvertently or maliciously introduce counterfeit or substandard goods into the U.S.-government supply chain.
